71st Reading (Anderson) Cub Scout Group is linked very closely with Anderson Baptist Church. The group is run by Pip Anderson. The Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and their families are invited to attend many of the family activities that are run by the Church and we see this is an opportunity for people to explore faith in a fun way and in a way that is comfortable for them. We hope you will feel able to enjoy some of these additional activities with us.
We meet every Monday in term time between 6.30pm and 8pm at Anderson Baptist Church, Amherst Road. You will be put into a small group called a Six where your Sixer and Seconder will explain everything you need to know.
The Cubs wear a green jumper and a blue & white necker. The jumpers can be bought from the Scout shop (163, Northcourt Ave Tuesday 7pm to 9pm; Saturday 2.30pm to 5pm). If you keep your receipts we can claim some money back for the group.
The subs for Cubs are £35 per term. Please make cheques payable to 71st Reading (Anderson) Scouts. If you are a tax payer we can claim some money back for Cubs if you fill out a Gift Aid Form.
All payments and gift aid are all dealt on OSM. The new Online system for scouting.
We include all of our parents on a rota to help out during the session. We find that it is a good way for us to provide support for the Cubs, get to know the parents and include everyone in the fun of Scouting.
All helpers need to be police checked before they can help so we ask your parents to complete a DBS Check. This will be explained upon joining.
Leaders and Helpers
There is a team of parents and helpers to ensure a good balanced programme. There are assistant leaders, parent helpers and Scouts who help out as well. If your parents would be interested in helping out with the meetings then contact Pip Anderson via this website.
Cubs are very friendly and always do their best to help out and welcome others – so come and meet us!
